BA cabin crew reject 'final' pay offer meaning more strikes possible

Tuesday 20th July 2010

More strikes could be on the cards for British Airways (BA) customers after cabin crew rejected a final pay offer from the airline.

The long-running dispute between BA and the union Unite failed to be resolved today as cabin crew rejected the offer by 3,419 votes to 1,686.

Less than half of the 11,000 members balloted by Unite cast a vote on the proposed deal.

The rejection means more strikes could take place this year.

A statement from BA said: "We are encouraged by the result of this ballot which shows that 73 per cent of our cabin crew did not reject our offer."

So far this year the union has taken 22 days of strike action, at a cost to the airline of more than £150 million. ADNFCR-1783-ID-19898904-ADNFCR
