Monday 12th July 2010
The UK airport operator BAA has said its passenger figures for June were affected by the British Airways cabin crew strikes.BAA's UK airports saw 9.5 million passengers pass through it doors in June, a drop of 1.7 per cent for the same month last year.
The operator said: "Without the impact of industrial action, it is estimated that Heathrow would have seen 140,000 more passengers last month and would have seen a 2.5 per cent increase on last June.
"The group's Scottish airports at Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen were all affected by the British Airways industrial action, with drops of 2 per cent, 7 per cent and 4 per cent respectively compared to June 2009.
"Group wide passenger numbers would have reached June 2009 levels without the impact of industrial action," it added.
