Banking sector leave FTSE 100 at close of play on Thursday

The banking sector left the FTSE 100 flat on Thursday, on the day it was confirmed the government borrowed £12.4 billion in February.At the close of play the London index stood at 5,642.64 a fall of 2.01 points, or 0.04 per cent.
Royal Bank of Scotland Group suffered the biggest slump through the day, ending down 3.56 per cent to 42p.
Lloyds Banking Group and Barclays also suffered, falling 3.17 per cent and 1.81 per cent respectively.
Heading the gains was GlaxoSmithKline which rose 3.88 per cent to 1,272p on the news a threat to its biggest selling drug Advair by a US competitor appeared to have receded.
Experian and SABMiller also rose 2.23 per cent and 1.191 per cent.
