Bankrupt Katona 'could sell mum's house'

Bankrupt Katona 'could sell mum's house' Wednesday 24th September 2008

The mother of former-pop star Kerry Katona could lose her house to pay off debt built up by her daughter, according to reports.

Katona, who previously sang with girl group Atomic Kitten, bought the home in Warrington for her estranged mother Sue nine years ago.

However, earlier this year the star was declared bankrupt after failing to pay £82,000 in tax.

Now, it is speculated that the 28-year-old could sell the property to help pay off the debt.

An unnamed source told the Mirror: "[Sue] is petrified. She has no money and her home means everything to her. Sue is praying she doesn't get turfed out."

Responding to the news, Max Clifford, spokesman for Katona, claimed that the home was not at risk and that his client's bankruptcy "will be sorted very quickly".

Katona's debt problems are thought to have been fuelled by her excessive spending, after buying her husband a Ducatti motorcycle and a series of high-performance sports cars.
