Banks drag FTSE 100 down almost two per cent

The FTSE 100 ended Thursday down almost two per cent.At the end of play the London index stood at 5,217.61 a drop of 102.65 points, 1.93 per cent.
Banks led the losses on the news the US Federal Reserve said it will end special liquidity measures early next year.
The biggest loser of the day was Lloyds Banking Group, down 7.43 per cent to 51.45p.
Another bank, Barclays, recorded losses of 5.58 per cent, 16.30 points, to 275.70p.
Leading the gains was Rentokil Initial which gained 1.71 per cent to 106.8p.
