Banks draw FTSE 100 down at week's end

The banking sector dragged the FTSE 100 down at the end week.

The London index ended Friday on 5,196.81 – a drop of 20.80 points, 0.40 per cent.

Leading the losses was Royal Dutch Shell, recording a drop of 5.61 per cent to 1,744.64p.

The banking sector also suffered some considerable slumps. Lloyds Banking Group was down 5.28 per cent to 48.40p.

Barclays also saw drops of 3.51 per cent to 264.25p, while Royal Bank of Scotland's shares were down almost three per cent to 29.83p.

Leading the gains at the end of the week was commercial property company Liberty International, up 8.5 points to 489p.ADNFCR-1783-ID-19521579-ADNFCR
