Cairn Energy helps FTSE 100 open positively on Tuesday

The FTSE 100 opened strongly on Tuesday morning helped by positive updates from Legal and General and Cairn Energy.At 10:10 GMT the London index stood at 5,693.55 a rise of 49.01 points, or 0.87 per cent.
Cairn Energy saw its share price surge by over ten per cent to 416.0p in early trading, while L&G also rose by 4.49 per cent.
At the opposite end of the scale, Home Retail Group and Kingfisher both suffered a disappointing morning.
The former fell 1.45 per cent to 277.8p early on, while the latter was also down by almost one per cent.
This afternoon traders will be keeping a keen ear out for any news on what may be included in Alistair Darling's Budget tomorrow.
