FTSE 100 bounces back in early trading

The FTSE 100 rose slightly in early trading on Wednesday, fired by financial stocks.

By 09:44 GMT London's leading share index was up 31.50 points, or 0.60 per cent, to 5,323.42.

Resolution Ltd led the gains at 2.93 per cent, with Amec (2.19 per cent) and RSA Insurance Group (2.16 per cent) also performing well.

Rentokil Initial was on the up as well, rising 2.69 per cent.

Leading the losses was United Utilities Group, down 1.56 per cent, with Royal Dutch Shell (0.93 per cent) and SABMiller (0.72 per cent) briefly in the red.

Despite the looming prospect of a 12-day strike by cabin crew unless legal action at the high court is successful, British Airways shares were slightly up at 0.61 per cent.ADNFCR-1783-ID-19515098-ADNFCR
