FTSE 100 closes Wednesday up 0.13 per cent

As the markets in London closed on Wednesday, the FTSE 100 was up by 0.13 per cent, adding 7.32 points to 5,679.64.Despite being told by Ofcom that it must cut its charges for sports channels, BSkyB was strong on today's stock market, and was leading the gainers when the markets closed. The broadcaster's shares were up 3.44 per cent.
Banks were also strong in Wednesday's trading, with Lloyds adding 2.3 per cent and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) adding 1.17 per cent.
But Britain's main shares index was dragged down by Segro, which led the fallers shedding 2.83 per cent, and Petrofac, which lost 1.72 per cent.
Also among the blue-chip fallers was BAE Systems, losing 1.17 per cent, and Kingfisher, which lost 1.43 per cent.
