FTSE 100 hits ground running at week's end

The FTSE 100 started the final day of trading this week up 1.11 per cent, or 58.15 points.After closing at 5,244.27 last night, by 09:45 GMT today it had jumped to 5,302.52.
Once again it was miners who drove the rise, with Xstrata up 4.07 per cent and Kazakhmys up 3.75 per cent.
International Power also saw a boost as its shares went up 3.31 per cent, while clothing group Burberry saw a 3.16 increase.
Royal Dutch Shell and Admiral Group were the only members of the leading share index to see a dip, with both seeing shares fall 0.45 per cent.
The fall comes despite Shell being awarded a major oil field contract in Iraq.
