FTSE 100 recovers from morning slump to end down 0.1 per cent

The FTSE 100 recovered from a disappointing start on Monday to end the day down just 0.10 per cent.At the close of play the London index stood at 5,644.54 a fall of 5.58 points.
Interdealer broker ICAP led the falls, slipping 2.58 per cent to 381.4p, after announcing it is to scale back its cash equities business in China and Asia.
British Land Company and Wolseley had also fallen 2.26 per cent and 2.1 per cent by the end of trading on Monday.
Technology engineer Smiths Group led the gains through the day, rising 2.45 per cent to 1,127p.
Investec PLC and Aggreko also rose significantly, up 2.41 per cent and 2.08 per cent respectively.
