FTSE 100 regains Lehman Brothers losses

The FTSE 100 rose for a fifth day in a row on Tuesday, ending up 0.65 per cent.

At the close of play the London index stood at 5,437.61, a rise of 35.20 points.

The gains represent the highest closing level since September 12th 2008, the last trading day before Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy.

Leading the gains on Tuesday was Liberty International up 4.93 per cent, 24 points, to 510.5p. Antofagasta also recorded strong gains, up 3.96 per cent

The biggest loser of the day was Randgold Resources, down 95 points, 1.84 per cent, to 5,075p

British Airways also ended the day down over 1.5 per cent to 189p.

Britain has now joined a select band of developed nations in recouping all the post-Lehman losses, according to Bloomberg.ADNFCR-1783-ID-19532837-ADNFCR
