Thursday 11th March 2010

Britain's leading shares index the FTSE 100 was down 0.4 per cent at 23.31 points to 5,617.26 by close of trade Thursday.

Miners dragged on the FTSE, as did Morrison WM Supermarkets; despite the firm announcing much better than expected results for 2009 earlier today.

Among the miners Kazakhmys led the falls, down 3.17 per cent, while Rio Tinto shed 1.57 per cent and Fresnillo 2.88 per cent by the time the markets closed.

Homebase-owner Home Retail Group was up 1.57 per cent, as the company reported a rise in profits.

Leading the FTSE 100 gains Petrofac, which added 3.36 per cent. ADNFCR-1783-ID-19664800-ADNFCR
