Man Group dominates Wednesday trading as FTSE 100 rises

The FTSE 100 ended Wednesday up 0.62 per cent, led in the main by the investment management business Man Group.At the close of play the London index stood at 5,276.64, a rise of 32.59 points.
Man Group led the gains, up 5.18 per cent to 239.6p, after rumours circulated of takeover interest from US fund group BlackRock.
Wolseley also recorded impressive gains, up 4.86 per cent, with Eurasian Natural Resources Corp up 4.09 per cent.
Scottish and Southern Energy suffered the worst slump throughout the day, ending down 2.65 per cent.
BP and Rexam also fell 2.65 per cent and 1.77 per cent respectively.
