Miners help FTSE 100 continue growth on Tuesday morning

The FTSE 100 continued the gains registered on Monday this morning, with the mining sector helping boost positive trading.At 09:05 BST the London index stood at 5,724.04 a rise of 13.37 points or 0.23 per cent.
Picking up where it left off yesterday, Xstrata again led the gains in the first hour of trading rising 2.6 per cent to 1,263.5p.
Amec and Rio Tinto also rose significantly up 2.55 per cent and 2.16 per cent respectively.
Pharmaceutical group Shire suffered the largest slump early on Tuesday, slipping 1.08 per cent to 1,468p.
Smiths Group and Investec PLC also fell 1.05 per cent and 0.98 per cent.
