Miners still a big drag on FTSE 100

The FTSE 100 fell 35.85 points, or 0.68 per cent, in early trading on Thursday as miners once again pulled the index down.Although investment manager Man Group saw the biggest individual fall (4.47 per cent), it was lower metal prices owing to a robust dollar and concerns over Chinese demand that saw the index fall to 5,217.30 by 09:44.
Antofagasta slipped 4.22 per cent, with Eurasian Natural Resources Corp falling 4.14 per cent and Xstrata 3.66 per cent.
Vedanta Resources saw shares fall 3.47 per cent and Lonmin 3.14 per cent.
Leading the gains was Vodafone, up 4.76 per cent, after raising its full year outlook.
