Positive news from banking sector keeps FTSE 100 steady on Friday

The FTSE 100 remained steady on Friday with the banking sector leading the gains following the release of positive news from Lloyds.At the close of play the London index stood at 5,650.13 a rise of 7.51 points, or 0.13 per cent.
Lloyds Banking Group ended up the day up 8.24 per cent after announcing it expects to return to profit in 2010.
Royal Bank of Scotland Group and Barclays were also up 4.76 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively.
Vedanta Resources suffered the worst slump on Friday, slipping 3.10 per cent, to 2,622p.
The property investment firm Segro also fell 2.74 per cent, while Cairn Energy fell 2.56 per cent.
Next week traders will undoubtedly be looking for any hints from No 11 Downing Street regarding what chancellor Alistair Darling will be announcing in his Budget on Wednesday.
