Wednesday 25th March 2009
The home of former Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) boss Sir Fred Goodwin has been attacked by vandals. The property in Edinburgh was attacked on Tuesday night with windows being smashed and a car parked in the driveway vandalised.
Sir Fred hit the headlines earlier this year when it emerged he was receiving a pension payout worth around £700,000 a year.
The 50-year-old took early retirement last year after RBS was forced to accept a £20 billion bailout from the government. In February this year the bank announced losses of £24.1 billion in 2008, the largest annual loss in UK corporate history.
Reports suggest vandals attacked his Edinburgh house overnight leaving broken windows and considerable damage to a Mercedes parked at the property.
Lothian and Borders police have claimed inquiries into the incident are ongoing and are appealing for witnesses.
